In the Marl Chemical Park – the third largest industrial estate of its kind in Germany – the effluent streams are sometimes polluted with mercury, and may vary strongly in composition and volume. Such conditions pose a problem for the demercurisation of the waste water, which is handled at this site by the PVC producer VESTOLIT GmbH & Co. KG. The challenge is to react optimally and immediately to changes in the level of contamination. Furthermore, appropriate disposal of the residue which result from filtration also requires complex handling. During the new construction of the demercurisation plant, the integrated site service provider Infracor GmbH together with its client VESTOLIT decided to install several MAX Flow
® filter units with integrated sludge briquetting made by the company GKD – Gebr. Kufferath AG.
